Very glad Oppenheimer did not show the attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I feel like that would have been extremely tasteless and would have felt like reveling in their misery. I realize the story was told from Oppenheimer’s perspective so it wouldn’t have made sense to cut to an event he wasn’t present for but they also showed restraint when they were going through photos of the destruction and victims. We could have been shown the photos but we focus on Oppenheimer and on his shame.

when i went to see barbie, y’all, that theater was PACKED WITH PINK. it was families and groups of friends and moms bringing kids (who were maybe too young for some of the jokes but hopefully they just went over their heads??) and cosplayers (lol me) and just so much excitement! we were all greeting each other with “hi, barbie!” and we made some kids day referring to them as barbie (i was in full wig and classic sunglasses and heels) and complementing them. their mom wanted photos. it was cute!! the lobby was full of folks in line for snacks and photo ops at the big barbie box. i’ve never been to a movie with that kind of energy. we were livingggg! 💕

animentality:

I also sobbed when I saw barbie appreciating an old woman, sitting beside her on the bench, because that’s what a woman is and that’s what being human is, and that’s what life is and she saw imperfection and age and realized it was beautiful.

She was so scared of being imperfect and having cellulite and aging and dying, and then she saw how beautiful all of those things could be, and she cried, and I cried.

And I understood. And I felt understood.

crit role fandom is off the shits in ways I can’t comprehend and I don’t even have to be in the fandom to know this. every CR drama I have the displeasure of tangentially encountering is a labyrinthine web of bizarre allegations that seemingly have nothing behind them but stretch on forever. The cast has cultivated such an intensely parasocial connection with their fanbase that people act like they’ve had their house broken into and every piece of furniture removed like that scene in the fresh prince of bel air every time roy mustang or jaina proudmore or whoever the fuck is on that show does something with their character that rustles their jimmies. I saw fanart rolling in as the first episode of C3 was premiering for characters that had been revealed literal minutes ago - the kind of insane turnaround normally only seen from pokemon porn artists when a new female character drops. no one seems even the slightest bit perturbed by the fact that every epsisode is four hours long, that’s just a normal amount of content to both watch on a weekly basis and get caught up on. I’m never sure if I’m horrified or in awe
